MY CITY

UTRECHT

KORO

We were blown away by the tattoo art of Koro, a delicate balance of the figurative meeting the abstract, the exploration of the ink and colours through controlled calculated stages, resulting in pieces that seem to flow and come alive on the body.- In his own words, “the purpose of my work is the balance and coexistence of the figurative element with the abstract expressionistic aesthetics.”

Originally from Greece, Koro moved to France in 2017, before eventually landing in The Netherlands at the end of 2018. He now works as a resident at AD Pancho Tattoo Studio in Utrecht, but he’s also a guest artist in other studios around Europe.

We asked Koro to share some of his favourite places in his adopted city…

SOIA STRAND OOG IN AL

Afternoon chill

"If you're visiting Utrecht in the summer, Strand Oog In Al is a must. A chill beach spot on the city island, where two big canals meet, makes the ideal place for your afternoon. You can also enjoy a cold beer at the Soia beach bar."

ACU

The home of alternative

"Are u looking for an alternative place? Acu is a political-cultural center run by volunteers, that organizes a wide range of activities; from concerts and jam sessions to movies and exhibitions."

//

LE JARDIN

High-end Organic

"Le Jardin is a fine-dining restaurant right in the city centre of Utrecht. What makes it unique is the organic and local products they use to produce delicious flavours in a cozy atmosphere."

//

NEDEREINDSE PLAS

Lakeside escape

"Nedereindse Plas is a beautiful lake where you can escape from the buzz of the city. You can rent a bike and get lost in the mesmerizing scenery."

KASTEEL DE HAAR

Feel the fairytale

"Kasteel de Haar is a medieval fortress with towers, bridges, and gates. Do a day trip for a fairytale-like experience and admire some impressive trees, old gardens, and ponds."

You can find out more about Koro’s work on his Instagram profile. As Koro explains, “it’s all about a metabolic state, a field of action and reaction, that leads to balanced neutral energy, timeless, without dimensions.” His work focuses on “the inherent tension between contrasts (organic/geometric, painting/drawing, use of complementary colours, stencils/freehand).”

One thing is key through it all: Trust. He says, “the trust of a client is needed to create a unique piece that flows with his body and personality.” If you’re up for it – and lucky enough to get a slot with him - let us know and share your photos!
