MY CITY

BRISTOL

VANESSA IN

Vanessa In is the founder and chief food creator at Bristol-based startup, Lunch Club - a digital platform offering hungry Bristolians a delicious, healthy, freshly-prepared lunch.

Vanessa launched Lunch Club in March 2019, following her frustration at struggling to find lunch options that were exciting, yet hearty enough to help her power through until the end of the working day. A real foodie, she wanted to create something for people who enjoy healthy eating, 'but don't want to be heading for the vending machine come 4pm' - and the response has been amazing!

We've been drooling over the dishes on their Instagram feed for some time now, so we decided to reach out to Vanessa. As a proud Bristolian herself, we were sure that she would know some amazing places to check out in the city...

BRANDON HILL

An oasis in the city centre

"Brandon Hill is a lovely park just across the road from where I live. We have so many great green spaces in Bristol. However, as a true city girl, I love this little oasis right in the hustle and bustle of the centre. - If you head to the top of the hill, you can sit and take in the atmosphere, or head up Cabot Tower for one of the best views of the city!"

THE ETHICUREAN

"As a famously foodie city, it's impossible to pick just one favourite restaurant! However, this place is truly magical. Its rural location just outside of Bristol offers a huge walled garden where they grow most of their own produce and I spend ages getting lost in there. In the evening, they serve just one menu and it's a true celebration of local ingredients in a cosy and relaxed environment."

ST. NICHOLAS MARKET

Vibrant market + great street food

"Incredibly vibrant indoor and outdoor market in the heart of the old town. Here you'll find a diverse mix of people, from tourists wandering the cobbled streets to locals popping out on their lunch breaks, and it's always fun to watch the weddings taking place on the steps of The Old Council House! 'St Nick's' (as it's affectionately called) is home to some of the best street food in the city - and you need to try the grilled meat wraps at Matina !"

HARBOURSIDE

Waterside wanderings

"Where do I start?! On the weekend, when the sun is shining, it's arguably the best place in Bristol. You can book a boat trip or follow the Harbourside walk, where you'll weave through busier areas such as Wapping Wharf, then enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Baltic Wharf. I love lounging next to the river at one of the cafés hidden away along the route, or taking in the views at the floating bar, Grain Barge."

CLIFTON VILLAGE

Perfect for lazy weekends

"Clifton is unbeatable on a lazy weekend where you just want to amble around, eat some good food and people watch. I'll always start at my favourite brunch spot, Rosemarino, where their legendary 'One Pan' breakfast has won a whole host of awards, and then stroll into Clifton Village with its many independent shops."
