Photographer Simone Massulo is one of our favourite things on Instagram. Sometimes haunting + romantic, sometimes majestic + modern, his stunning shots of Milan are all about capturing those hidden sides of the city.
Originally from Busto Arsizio, Simone has always had a passion for photography but, until recently, it's only ever been a hobby. Working in Milan, he began to record the scenes of daily city life + he's already built up a significant following on Instagram.
He loves the dynamism of Milan - how it constantly evolves + metamorphosises; an historic city that continues to develop + grow.
We asked Simone to share some of his favourite places in the city...

PIAZZA DUOMO
The Piazza del Duomo offers some of the most iconic shots of Milan. Dominated by the incredible cathedral (Duomo), the square marks the geographic + cultural centre of the city, + is bordered by some of Milan's most important buildings.
PIAZZA GAE AULENTI
The Piazza Gae Aulenti offers a more modern side of the city. Its main square, elevated 6 metres above the street, is surrounded by a number of interesting buildings: The Bosco Verticale (a pair of towers covered in 2000 species of plants) + the imposing Unicredit Tower.
NAVIGLI
The Navigli are an ancient system of canals that are etched into the city's history: Construction began on the first canal, the Naviglio Grande, way back in the 12th Century! - These days, Navigli is famous for its nightlife, with the streets coming alive at night thanks to its many bars + restaurants.
